Allied Arts director steps down

YAKIMA, Wash. --  Allied Arts of Yakima Valley executive director Jessica Moskwa announced this week she is stepping down.

After six years of heading the nonprofit organization, Moskwa has decided to pursue other opportunities in the Yakima Valley.

Moskwa is taking a job as general manager of Gilbert Cellars.

With a staff of 15 people, Moskwa oversees several community programs, including art education, campaigns, and community partnership projects.

The board of directors has already formed a search committee, and they'll start looking for a new director immediately.

"I'm really committed to making sure that transition happens really smoothly; and really wanting to ensure the continued success of our programs and our place in the community," Moskwa said.

Moskwa says she plans on working closely with the new hire and making sure the programs are in place for the rest of 2011, and for the future.

Her resignation will be effective April 1.
