Columbia Basin Racquet Club donates $100,000 in fitness equipment
Staying fit will soon be easier for several local students after the Columbia Basin Racquet Club donated a large batch of fitness equipment.
$100,000 of cardio, weights and stretching equipment will head to a variety of schools and youth center facilities.
Columbia Basin Racquet Club is doing a remodel and fitness upgrade and managers decided to put the old machines to good use.
The Racquet Club has completely renovated equipment fewer than a handful of times since it first opened about 30 years, and the general manager says this is the best decision they've made when sending out old gear.
"We thought the best thing we could do was to put it in the hands of some of the middle schools and private high schools that have a much more difficult time accessing equipment," General Manager Randy Willis said.
In the coming weeks, Liberty Christian, Chief Jo Middle School, Ki-Be High School, Stevens Middle School and the YMCA at the Martin Luther King Center will be getting the workout machines.
