Yakima man critically injured in carjacking

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima police are investigating a carjacking where a man was found unconscious in the middle of a street, early Wednesday morning.

Police arrived to the incident at around 5:20 a.m. on the200 block of S. 81st Avenue. Officers found the man with life-threatening injuries to his head.

Officers say it appears the man was assaulted and had his vehicle stolen. They say he may have been hit by a car too.

Police are not releasing the victim's name at this time. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but his condition is still unknown.

At around 9:30 a.m., the stolen vehicle was reported by a Forest Service employee on Highway 12. Police say no one was inside the vehicle at the time.

A short time later, sheriff's deputies located another stolen vehicle which had been occupied by a white wan. The suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. After detectives searched inside of the car, they found stolen items belonging to the robbery.
