RICHLAND, Wash. -- Some 5th graders from Lewis and Clark Elementary school got an inside look at salmon. Students in three different classrooms took part in the "Salmon in the Classroom" learning experience.
Biologist Rachel Little hosted the event. Students were impressed. 5th grader, Avery Free says, "It was kind of cool, kind of weird about how they took it out and what the sounds were." Michael Holmes, also a 5th grader says, "It would be awesome if we could do it again, if I could do it again like in 6th grade."
During the event, the experts taught the students about various parts of the fish on the exterior and about the functions of the salmon's insides. The students have been learning about the fish for sometime and are raising eggs in their classroom.
