YAKIMA, Wash- Two drive-by shootings in Yakima ended with people in the hospital.
At about 7:30pm police responded to the 200 block of East 3rd Street. They say a 16-year-old was standing at the corner of 4th and Spruce streets when the suspects drove up, yelled out the name of a gang, and started shooting. Bullets did not hit the victim but the suspect car drove onto the curb and hit him. He was treated for an open head wound and released from the hospital.
About an hour and a half later Yakima police got another call about a drive-by victim five minutes away. Twenty-year-old Israel Perez was shot in the back of his right ankle near 3rd and Arlington Avenues. Police say Perez was dressed in gang attire and admitted to being a part of a local gang.
Police have not said whether the two shootings were related.
