KENNEWICK, Wash. -- A home at 1807 S. Volland Court is completely gutted inside after flames ripped through it Sunday morning.
The family who lives inside was at church at the time. People driving along Union Street around 9:00am saw flames from a window and called 9-11. The fire started and was contained to the living room, but everything inside the house is destroyed and covered in soot. Damage is estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The family is staying with friends. Kennewick Fire Marshall, Mark Yates says the cause is under investigation.
"The area where it started had quite a bit of electronics equipment and computers and things like that. So what we'll do now is go through, look in that area and rule out any accidental causes , looking at the homes electrical wiring as well as any of those components to try to figure it out," says Yates.
