ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Central Washington University sent an alert to students and staff Friday morning, after a woman was assaulted on the campus in Ellensburg.

CWU police say the victim was walking on a pathway near Carmody-Munro and Al-Monty halls, when she was approached by an unknown white man. Officers say she was pulled and punched by the suspect in an assault that apparently was sexually motivated.

The woman was able to fighter the attacker off, and he ran away.

Police describe the suspect as being 24-25 years of age, muscular build with dark "shaggy" hair and scruffy side burns. He may have been wearing a hooded sweatshirt with unknown design on the front and blue jeans.

Police want you to be alert of suspicious activities or people.
