YAKIMA, Wash- A local organization needs help providing supplies to foster kids. Voices for children's "Buddy Bag" project provides DSHS with supplies to give children when they are taken into foster care. They fill buddy bags with things like books, school supplies, toiletries, and clothes.
"Most of the kids that are removed and put into foster care don't have an opportunity to pack anything of their own. A lot of times they don't have anything and basically show up with just the clothes on their backs", says Anna-Marie Martinez, president of Voices for Children.
Voices for Children is asking for the public's help in putting together 125 buddy bags for ages zero to seven. They are asking for donations of supplies or money. To donate, call 509-225-0335.
