Officer involved shooting leaves a Yakima man dead
YAKIMA, Wash. -- An officer involved shooting leaves a Yakima man dead. It happened on the 1100 block of S. 4th Avenue in Yakima, Sunday morning.
Yakima police were called out to a fight in progress just after 6:00 a.m., where they say a suspect was stabbing another man.
According to YPD, the first officer arrived on the scene to find the 27-year-old male sitting on the victim, stabbing the victim repeatedly.
Police say the officer told the suspect to stop, but the suspect ignored the officer and continued to stab the victim. The officer then fired two rounds, hitting the suspect. The suspect died at the scene.
The 21-year-old victim was taken to a nearby hospital with multiple stab wounds. Police have not released the names of the victim or suspect, at this time. YPD will continue to investigate this incident.
