KENNEWICK, Wash.--Dozens of community members, parents, and most importantly, children, were on hand today for the unveiling of a new piece of art.
Mid-Columbia Libraries and local artist Scott McMillin presented a new mural in the children's area at Keewaydin Park Library. The artist says he tried to use bright colors and shapes the kids can recognize, but also wanted to tell a story with his mural.
McMillin used the four different seasons as his inspiration. One scene depicting fall with apple trees ready for harvest. Winter features a snowy scene with a snowman. Spring has sunflowers which symbolize happiness, and summer is an ode to the water with a sail boat, octopus and other fish.
The painting is appropriately called "Four Seasons." The whole thing is 48 feet long and about 8 feet tall.
