KENNEWICK, Wash. -- It appears for the moment that the Tri-City Americans are back in championship form. The defending Western Conference Champs currently hold the conference's highest winning percentage.
That is not bad for a team sitting in 3rd place in its own division. Don't be confused, they've just played less games than division leading Portland and 2nd place Spokane.
Those are 2 teams Tri-City beat this past weekend, including a thrilling 5-4 win against the Chiefs on Saturday night.
"Tight games and scoring in the last minute [are good]," said Head Coach Jim Hiller. "They're fun to be apart of, especially to be on the winning side. In a long season that can really wear and grind on you, you need those moments, good emotional moments for a team."
"I think we're very confident," said Captain Kruise Reddick. "I mean we're definitely coming off a high, beating Portland and Spokane. So, we know we can compete with any team in the league. So, that being said we're just going to keep rolling and do the same next weekend."
The Ams take on Spokane and Portland this weekend but will face off against Edmonton 1st. That game is on Wednesday night at home.
