ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Central Washington University's music department is collaborating with renowned jazz artists, Nancy King and Steve Christofferson.

Students have been rehearsing this week alongside Christofferson, a jazz pianist.

"They'll be hearing things they've never heard. Collaborating with people they've never worked with before. And the end results should feel really satisfying to everybody," Christofferson as he explains his experience working with the students.

Christofferson and King have toured and recorded jazz music together. King has performed at New York City's Town Hall, the Montreal Jazz Festival, and several European jazz festivals.

In 2001, King was inducted into the Oregon Jazz Society's Hall of Fame.

Christofferson has toured and recorded with King. He's an active member in the Portland, Oregon-based band, the Skol Brothers.

CWU jazz professor Chris Bruya, will lead the award-winning Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Band I in Thursday's concert.

The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. In the Music Building Concert Hall. General admission tickets are $10 at the door. Students who bring their CWU ID will get into the corn cert free.
