YAKIMA, Wash- Yakima wines aren't getting the recognition they deserve according to the president of the Yakima County Development Association.
Earlier this week Dave McFadden, wrote an article commenting that Yakima wines are relatively unknown compared to others in the state which he sees as unfair. This prompted him to do some research. McFadden pointed out that Yakima County produces more grapes and variety of grapes than anywhere in the state. He also found over 130 Yakima County wines that either scored upwards of 90 points or won awards last year.
"We're doing a lot of things right and there's a lot of wine that's produced here or is shipped to other wineries from local producers that is outstanding."
McFadden went on to say that because the wine industry is a driving economic force in Yakima, it's important to continue working to put Yakima wines on the map.
