The Spokane Chiefs dropped their second game to the Tri City Americans in the last week, as a 3 goal second period lifted Tri City to a 5-2 win over Spokane Friday night in Kennewick, WA. With the loss, the Chiefs fell a point behind Tri into third place in the U.S. Division.
Blake Gal would rifle a shot just inside the Tri City blue line to score his 15th goal of the season just 55 seconds into the game to give Spokane a 1-0 lead. Adam Hughesman would tie the game for Tri at 11:36 on a shot from the left wing.
Tri City would score two goals 20 seconds apart early in the second period to take a 3-1 lead. Brendan Shinnimin would then score his second goal of the period on the power play midway through the second to make it 4-1 Tri after two periods.
Jared Cowen would score a shorthanded goal at 16:14 of the third period to cut the Tri lead to 4-2, but Tri would score an empty netter in the final minute to cap the scoring.
Spokane will travel to Seattle to face the Thunderbirds Saturday night. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA beginning at 6:30pm with the puck drop at 7pm.
