Great CPR Blitz returns for a second year in Yakima
YAKIMA, Wash. - The second annual Great CPR Blitz took over the Yakima Convention Center Saturday to increase the number of people knowledgeable about basic CPR.
Doctors, nurses, and other health professionals from local organizations teamed up to help participants feel comfortable pumping someone else's chest so they're ready to respond in a serious situation.
"The majority of cardiac arrest occur at home so we want them to go home and teach people," said Dr. Dave Krueger of Yakima Heart Center.
Everyone who came to the Blitz got a free take home CPR kit. The goal is to have each attendee show five other people what they learned so more of the public is CPR ready.
Organizers say around 150 people attended each of the four sessions at the event. They plan to be back next year and keep up the annual tradition.
