SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- Yakima County firefighters responded to a large haystack fire at Spring Canyon Dairy.
Firefighters were called out to the 160 block of Isaacs Road at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Capt. Dave Martin with Yakima Co. Fire District 5 says about 450 tons of alfalfa bales were threatened by the fire. Martin says dairy employees, with the help from firefighters, used loaders to remove and save about 100 ton bales before the fire destroyed the remaining stack.
Martin says the fire was under control at about 7:40 a.m. Sunday.
No one was hurt.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
