WHITE SWAN, Wash. - The American Red Cross is hoping to connect with all the families affected by recent fires in White Swan that destroyed almost two dozen homes. Temporary shelters are no longer in use, but Red Cross caseworkers have set up a service center to develop recovery plans and provide people with emergency assistance. Different forms of support range from replacing clothing, to getting food, household goods, and bedding, etc. It's at the Toppenish Armory (326 S. Division in Toppenish) and will be open today from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm. The rest of the community is encouraged to support these relief efforts by mailing in a donation to the Red Cross Chapter office (302 S. 2nd St, Yakima 98901) or by calling 509-457-1690.
