Family loses home to fire

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash.— Tuesday a family of two came home to their house completely destroyed by a fire.  Just after 1:00pm firefighters were called to a Richland home on the corner of Ash and Frankford.

KNDU spoke with the mother who lived in the home with her 11 year-old son.  She says she is very upset, but she is also thankful that all of her pets were saved.  She says her boyfriend had run inside the home just as the fire started and rescued her dogs.

Fire crews were called to the coroner of Ash and Frankford in Richland.  They say they heard banging, which could have been cans or possible bullets.

The fire started in the back of the home.  The inside was completely destroyed by the time firefighters contained the flames.

The homeowner says she does have home insurance, and neighbors are already offering her clothing and other essential needs.

Firefighters say they are still investigating the cause of the fire.
