WEST RICHLAND, Wash -- The West Richland Fire Chief has landed a new job.

Benton County District Four Fire Chief Mike Spring starts his new job as Battalion Chief with the Hanford Fire Department on March 1st.

Spring will be in charge of four different fire stations at Hanford. He says he's proud of how far the West Richland station has come and it's now time for new challenges.

"Sometimes change is good, I kind of stepped around in my career, I've been doing for 34 years and I think to keep fresh and to keep going ahead, you need different challenges throughout your life," says Spring.

Spring says District 4 has not yet chosen a replacement chief yet.
