Fever Make Cuts As They Get Ready for Season Opener
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-Cities Fever have only had a couple weeks to take their beginning roster of over 40 down to the final 30 on Thursday.
Last week's scrimmage against Wenatchee helped coach Adam Shackleford make some of the cuts but he says this week can be a make or break week for players sitting on the bubble.
While keeping cuts on their mind, the Fever also have got their season opener to think about. That comes Saturday when they host the Arizona Adrenaline.
It has all happened so fast.
"It's really fast and it's hard but I think everybody answered the challenge and excepted their roles very well," said quarterback Houston Lillard. "We are coming together faster than I thought."
"These guys still know that we're cutting 5 more guys so they know that there is still some pressure on them," said coach Adam Shackleford. "You have to balance that out with preparing for your 1st game and I think the preseason game really helped. I think we have got a really good idea of whose going to help us and whose going to make this team. There are also going to be some guys this week that are going to go out and change our minds. I think this is going to be big week for us."
