KENNEWICK, Wash.— The Better Business Bureau says scammers are targeting businesses and restaurants in a unique way. A representative tells KNDU scammers call through TTY Relay which is used for the hearing impaired.
The scammer places large orders whether it is food, tools even puppies, whatever the business sells. Then they use a stolen credit card. By the time the company figures out the card is stolen, it's too late.
Scammers are using TTY because calls are hard to trace, and it's a third party.
If you get one of these phone calls and it seems suspicious report the phone call. Also, check the credit card before charging it.
