Inmate uses pen to stab Walla Walla Corrections Officer
WALLA WALLA, Wash. - A Washington State Corrections Officer in Walla Walla is recovering after an inmate stabbed him in the face and head with a ball point pen Tuesday night. The officer was taken to an area hospital in Walla Walla, his name and condition have not been released. Corrections officials say the assault happened in the Adams Unit which is a mental health unit. The inmate is now in segregation and the penitentiary is on lockdown while an investigation is ongoing. Two other guards suffered minor injuries when they came to the injured officer's aid. The guard who was attacked has worked as a state correctional officer since 1999.
