RICHLAND, WA-Some grade school students in Richland have taken advantage of the chance to learn about anything they want.
Hunter Cole used "potato energy" to power a clock. He is one of about 50 children at Marcus Whitman Elementary who showed off their Discovery Quest Challenge.
"Pretty much open to anything," says Julie Simm, a mom and member of the PTA. "Science, sports, pets, anything they want."
The PTA organized the challenge to help students learn through hands-on experience by creating their own projects, and improve their communication skills when they explained their project.
