PROSSER, Wash.—Students at Columbia Basin College installed their first solar hot water heater in a Prosser home. It is part of CBC's first solar hot water technology class.
To earn credit the students take equipment they have built, test it and actually install it into a home. The solar water heater heats the water with solar energy rather than electricity. The heater can raise 38 gallons of water from 55 degrees to 100 degrees in about five hours.
