"Brain Rules" for Teachers

PASCO, Wash.--  Teachers and administrators from 23 different school districts met in Pasco today to learn all about the human brain.

Molecular biologist and author Dr. John Medina went over some of the research from his New York Times Best Selling book "Brain Rules." Among many other topics, Medina touched on how exercise and sleep can affect learning ability.

Administrators with Educational Service District 123 say it's all about understanding how a student's mind functions.

"Really what we're after is student learning. We want to increase student learning and the more we understand about how students uptake information and commit it to long term memory, the better we can be," says Asst. Superintendent of ESD 123 Dr. Robert Smart.

Smart also says he hopes to have more presentations like this over the next few months to always keep educating our teachers and administrators.
