Early morning crash kills driver in Yakima, injures passenger
YAKIMA, Wash. - Yakima Police are investigating a Saturday morning crash near downtown that killed the driver and sent the passenger to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The 26-year-old driver was headed west on Chestnut Ave. toward Front St. just before 2:00 a.m., according to YPD. That street is a one-way, eastbound lane. Officers found both the driver and a 22-year-old passenger inside the car that had crashed into a concrete wall west of the intersection.
Both men were taken to a local hospital where the driver later died. The passenger did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, police said.
YPD thinks alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. Names of the victims were not released.
