Pasco murder suspect to be evaluated at Eastern State Hospital
PASCO, Wash.-- A Pasco man accused of murder will go to Eastern State Hospital for an evaluation.
In court Wednesday, defense attorneys for Gregorio Luna Luna said that his mental state has gotten worse since he was jailed last May. His attorneys referred to the time spent behind bars and possible repressed memories.
Police arrested Luna Luna in May 2010 for stabbing Griselda Ocampo Meza, 21, to death after an argument over their five-year-old son.
Special Prosecutor Steve Lowe argued that the trial was supposed to start in 3 weeks and it's too late for an Eastern State Hospital evaluation. The judge, however, granted a delay to send Luna Luna to Eastern State for the mental evaluation. He requested attorneys on both sides ask for the evaluation to be expedited.
