Women fighting cancer are feeling better by looking good
KENNEWICK, Wash.—Every month a group of women who have recently been diagnosed with cancer get together in the Tri-Cities and in Yakima for ‘Look Good… Feel Better."
The American Cancer Society program brings in cosmetologists who volunteer their time to teach women how to handle treatment side effects such as dry skin, brittle nails and hair loss. The products used are donated by the National Cosmetology Association and the Personal Care Products Council Foundation.
The women say their treatments take a toll on their appearance, but with the help of cosmetologists they can get a confidence boost.
In the Tri-Cities the women meet every third Thursday of each month from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Tri-Cities Cancer Society.
In Yakima the women meet every second Tuesday of each month from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the North Star Lodge.
