KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-City Americans are just 3 days away from the start of the postseason. Friday night, they host Vancouver.
The Ams are trying to play more physical and with more emotion as the postseason begins. Tri-City won their last 3 games heading into the playoffs by a combined 16 to 8 scoring margin.
Players say they wanted to go into the playoffs riding a positive wave and to do that, they needed to bring the fire.
"We realize what time of year it is and how important all these games are," said defenseman Matt MacKenzie.
"We took it upon ourselves, took the ownership with the guys in the room and said, look we don't want to go into the playoffs playing [poorly]," said Ams Captain Kruise Reddick. "We have to get ourselves engaged during the games and make sure that we're here to play."
"If you're going to win in the playoffs, you have to be physical," said Ams Head Coach Jim Hiller. "I thought that we answered that bell to a man, up and down the line-up and I think that breeds a lot of confidence within our team."
