The mayors of Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and Benton City made some special deliveries Wednesday morning for Meals on Wheels. On Wednesday, they called it "Mayors for Meals."
The Mid-Columbia program serves about 500 meals on a daily basis to those 60 years and older. Volunteers deliver food to about 230 homes every day.
"it's a nice chance to get to visit with some of our citizens who don't get out of their house, don't come to council meetings," said Richland Mayor, John Fox.
The program runs on state and federal funds as well as donations. There were more than 124,000 meals delivered in 2010 just to Richland seniors.
