Arrest in Yakima homicide case

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima police have arrested the suspect in the city's first gang related homicide of the year.

Officers with the Yakima Police Department and the Violent Crimes Task force located and arrested Patrick A Bentley, 18, Wednesday afternoon. Bentley was booked into the Yakima County jail on charges of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder.

Bentley is scheduled to appear in Yakima County Superior Court Thursday.

Police say a group of men were walking on North 5th Avenue on March 21, when a car pulled up next to them. Alejandro Baldovinos, 27, and his brother Luis Baldavinos, 18, were both hit by the gunfire and taken to a nearby hospital. Police say Alejandro was hit in the chest and later died from his injuries, Luis was treated and released.

Police say the shooting was gang related. This is the first gang related homicide in the City of Yakima  for 2011.
