YAKIMA, Wash. -- About 300 children at EPIC's Jefferson Early Learning Center in Yakima learned some life saving messages at a fair Thursday.

Yakima firefighters, the police department and Advanced Life Systems were among the many community service groups to make presentations to the preschoolers.

Team leader Colleen Allen says the topics they covered at the event included fire safety, stranger danger and even how to act when they see a strange dog in the neighborhood.

Manning Dog Training, Old Country Harvest Buffet's mascot bee, the USDA, US Forest Service's Smokey the Bear, the Yakima Health Department and Yakima Recycling were also at the event.

"The more education that they get, the more others will be educated as well. And our main purpose is to makes sure that children are safe and they're healthy," Allen said.

This the 4th year for the Safety Fair.
