KENNEWICK, Wash.-- April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month. To kick off the month, the Sexual Assault Response Center has special t-shirts hanging up in many of the Mid-Columbia Libraries. It's called the "Clotheslines Project."
Each shirt was decorated by an abuse victim and tells a story. Letecia Garcia, Program Director for SARC, explains, "It can be a very impactful visual image of what the victim has gone through and it helps them through their healing process, as well as raises awareness for the community." The shirts will be on display the rest of the week.
SARC has many other events coming up, including the Little People Project and an auction. To learn more about the other events, click here.
