PASCO, WA- A state psychiatrist says if a man accused of murder were to be deported to Mexico, he would snap-out of his current mental state.
Defense attorneys say Jose Garcia Morales is incompetent to stand trial for murder, but Dr. William Grant from Eastern State Hospital says Morales is simply depressed about being in jail.
Grant says if Morales were returned to the hospital or Mexico, he would recover without medication.
A psychiatrist for the defense, however, argues Morales suffers from a psychic disorder.
Morales and his brother, Ramon Garcia Morales, have been in county jail for more than two years since police arrested them for shooting to death a man and critically wounding his wife in their Pasco home.
