YAKIMA, Wash. - Students at Pacific Northwest University hosted their first annual "Run For Your Life" 5K Fun Run and Health Fair Saturday morning at the Terrace Heights campus.
Representatives from more than 10 different student clubs were on hand at the fair along with diabetes testing for the public. Other events included an obstacle course and screenings provided by students and staff.
Jacynda Wheeler says the combination of the two events was an important opportunity for students to connect with people outside the university.
"We really just wanted people to come out and have a good time and just bring awareness of the importance of physical fitness and health and get involved in the community," she said.
There were more than 100 volunteers that helped setup the fair and the 5K run that attracted 200 participants. The money raised by the run goes to Children's Village.
