YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Yakima dance studio is making positive steps to help out the March of Dimes.

It's mix of Latin music with cardio exercise, and Friday, the public will get a chance to put their best foot forward.

Owner Sherrie Leavitt, of Sherrie's Dance Studio, and fellow Zumba Instructors are putting on a Zumbathon. The event is sponsored by Farmers Insurance. It's a fundraiser event for the March of Dimes, an organization that helps families cope with premature babies.

"We have seven instructors here at the studio, that will be trading off doing different songs throughout the evening. We will have giveaways, prizes, all to benefit March of Dimes," Leavitt explained.

Organizers say anyone is welcome to come, even if it's just to watch the dance or stop by to make a donation for March of Dimes.

The Zumbathon is Friday and runs from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at Sherrie's Dance Studio, located at 2600 A W. Nob Hill Boulevard, inside the Nob Hill Plaza.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. To purchase the $20 tickets in advance contact Stephanie Peterson at (509) 307-8281 or Sherrie Leavitt at (509) 961-9421.

All proceeds go to help out the March of Dimes. Farmers Insurance will match each dollar donated during Friday's event.
