RICHLAND, Wash. -- When people call 911 looking for help, the first voice they hear is a dispatcher.
This afternoon, Benton County emergency services honored Aimee Fournier-Plante with the 2010 dispatcher of the year award. During her nearly decade long career, Plante has helped many people, but some have stood out more than others.
"The best call ever hands down that I took was when I was able to deliver a baby. I helped a dad kind of go through the motions and gave him the instructions to help, and hear the little baby cry at the end," says Plante.
Plante has worked at Benton County Emergency Services for the past ten years. In addition to her work here, she travels across the state teaching courses for the Washington criminal justice training commission in law and fire dispatch.
