KENNEWICK, Wash. -- KNDU teamed up with Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers and CI Shred to help people keep their identity safe.
Every 2.6 seconds a person has their identity stolen.
The fifth annual Shred Day went on at three locations: Target in Kennewick at 1106 N. Columbia Center Blvd., Target in Richland at 2941 Queensgate Drive and Yakima Valley Credit Union, 401 Tieton Drive, Yakima.
Kennewick Police Crime Prevention Specialist Mike Blatman says they had a huge turnout. "We ended up filling 2 ½ trucks from CI Shred today which was 165 bins of shredded material. This however is about 60 more bins than we did during last year's event.," says Blatman.
The service was free, but donations were accepted for Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers' reward fund.
