Mother and children die in duplex fire

ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- Three people were killed in a fire early this morning in Ellensburg.  Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue say a pan with food was left on a stove, and it started the fire that killed a mother and her two sons.

The home was on the 200 block of East 14th Avenue.  Crews say they arrived at the home within 9 minutes to find flames coming out of the back of the home.

The mom and a six-year-old boy were in one room.  The mother died after arriving to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital.  The six-year-old died an hour later, and another boy was found inside and died on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
