RICHLAND, Wash. --The Tri-City Dog Park Society will be handing over a check for $16,000 dollars to the city of Richland tonight to begin the first phase of construction on a dog park.
The money was raised from membership dues and fundraiser's to pay for trees and gazebos. Over a hundred thousand dollars have been raised to begin work on 2.5 acres of land that will be completed by October.
"It will allow them a place to exercise their dog and see all the great park amenities that the tri-cities has to offer," says Alan White, President of the Tri-City Dog Park Society.
After the first phase is complete in the fall, the society hopes to develop another 2.5 acre piece of land to expand the park. Another $100,000 will be needed. When the park is complete, it will have a sprinkler system, grass, benches and trees.
The organization is actively seeking donations to begin the second phase. If you would like to donate to the dog park society you can go to their website, www.tricitydogparks.org
