Plan for a paved public road into the Juniper Dunes advances

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash.- Franklin County took steps towards resolving a long standing source of tension Wednesday.

The county budgeted about $700,000 to build on and improve Peterson Road, a two mile stretch of public road from Pasco-Kahlotus road, into the Juniper Dunes Wilderness Area.

For over twenty years people have been using the area for recreation, but they've had to drive on private roads to get there.

Officials say the road will be paved, good news for both people who live nearby and visitors.
