Roundabout almost ready, and BNSF promises to fix that pothole!
Kennewick, WA- Kennewick's newest roundabout is open for business. City crews pulled an all-nighter Thursday to pave the roundabout at Clearwater Avenue and Leslie Road.
A few minor problems and cold weather slowed down the crews, but by daybreak, steamrollers moved across freshly paved blacktop and workers began painting arrows on the roundabout lanes.
For the next two weeks, city workers will finish lighting and landscaping the roundabout, and then project supervisor Jack Arnold says Burlington Northern Santa Fe has promised to come in and fix that gaping pothole at the railroad crossing that drivers have been dealing with for years.
"It will go away,"Arnold says. "They're going to make a nice concrete crossing through there. It'll be just perfect after May eleventh."
Workers will close the roundabout for the three days (May 9-11) to repair the crossing.
