Missing woman safe, spent night in shorts and "flip-flops" near White Pass
NEAR WHITE PASS, Wash. – An 18-year-old woman from Snohomish is safe Sunday after she was separated from friends while hiking and had to travel several miles in shorts and "flip flops" before finding help.
The woman was camping near Rimrock Lake and was last seen near Forest road #1202 before a call came into the Yakima County Sheriff's Office around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. A search and rescue team worked through the night to try and locate the woman.
Just before 8:30 a.m., the agency learned she was with campers near the South Fork cabins after making her way down the 1203 road.
YSO says her condition was good given that she traveled several miles through rough terrain in unseasonable clothing and spent the night in freezing temperatures.
She was reunited with family at the search base and taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, according to YSO.
