Kennewick, WA- Second Harvest is taking part in a national campaign to get home vegetable gardeners to plant an extra row for the hungry.
Job's nursery in Pasco has donated several flats of young tomato starts that will be given out tomorrow at the KNDU and KNDO Family Food Drive.
Coordinator of the Plant a Row campaign, Nathan Finch, says several churches have started community gardens that will help feed needy families throughout the Mid-Columbia.
"If I started listing churches we'd be here all day," Finsh says. "The religious community has really taken this program and run with it."
Park Middle School and Legacy high school have also started gardens to help feed needy families.
