KENNEWICK, Wash.- Over seas and at home; cakes are a huge part of any wedding.
But with an economic downturn and less people getting married, the industry has taken a hit.
Workers at Cake Be We in Pasco say they've seen 20 different stores fail after trying to get in the business. They say their store has stayed open by specializing in top of the line cakes, many selling for $2,000.
"We just got an email from a girl who wants to have a cake that looks like clouds, and so we allow them to explore the possibilities," says Chris Michaud.
Michaud says a wedding cake can be in the planning and design phase for months before they finally bake and build it.
