Firefighters save mobile home from blaze

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Mobile home fires typically spread fast, but today firefighters were able to save one from burning down completely.

It took only seven minutes for firefighters to get to the flames inside the home.

Crews say despite the fast response, tight space inside the Sun Meadows Mobile Home Park and access to only one fire hydrant didn't make things easy.

"It did make for a longer hose lay for the 2nd unit to bring water to ensure that they had an uninterrupted water supply from the hydrant," explains Marvin Leonard of the Kennewick Fire Department.

The fire was contained to the kitchen, the cause is still being investigated. No injuries were reported, and based on information from neighbors, firefighters don't think anyone was living there.

The home was being renovated, and suffered smoke and fire damage.
