Names released in officer-related shooting in Sunnyside

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- Sunnyside police have released the names of the four officers involved in the officer-shooting last Saturday.

Charlotte Hinderlider, spokesperson for the Sunnyside Police Department, says officers Orate, Sparks, T. Orth and Ausland have been put on paid administrative leave, pending the completion of the investigation. Police are not be releasing the first names of the officers.

Hinderlider noted that the Sunnyside Police Department anticipates the four officers on leave to return to duty as soon as possible.

On Monday, the Yakima County coroner identified the man Sunnyside police shot and killed as Jose Carlos Campuzano, of Grandview. Police say Campuzano and two other men were involved in a separate shooting around 8:45 p.m. Saturday. According to law enforcement, Campuzano shot at officers while they were trying to take him and the other two men into custody.

No one else was injured.

The officers will remain on administrative leave while the Washington State Patrol investigates.
