Level III sex offender in Benton County arrested for murder
YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Benton City level III sex offender is accused of stabbing a Sunnyside man to death.
Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies found 61-year-old Pedro Flores bleeding in his Sunnyside driveway from multiple stab wounds Sunday. Investigators say 57-year-old Floyd Koontz told friends he would be confronting Flores and then attacked the man at his home. The friends also told police the possible motive for the stabbing was money.
Chief Stewart Graham, with YSO says, "there's a possibility that there was some disagreement between the two concerning some money that was owed to one or the other."
Koontz is a registered sex offender with at least 2 felony convictions and 11 non-felony convictions. He is scheduled to be formally charged with first degree murder on May 23rd. His bail was set at $1-million.
