KENNEWICK, Wash. - U.S. Rep. Doc Hastings is in a Tri-Cities hospital being treated for diverticulitis. The Republican who represents central Washington checked into the hospital early Sunday morning while he was on a weekend visit to his district. His office said treatment for the disease will take several more days. His office said Hastings is in good spirits and looks forward to returning to work. Diverticulitis is an inflammation of the inner lining of the intestine. The disease is considered mild and responds well to treatment.
