YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima Police were called out to the Bank of America on 40th and Summitview Ave. Monday afternoon. They received a report of a man who was drunk and bothering customers at the entrance of the bank. When officers arrived, the 24-year-old was outside. Police say he started to pull out a gun.
"So one of our officers did arrive shortly after that and began calling out on the air that the person he'd been called to remove had a gun and was pulling the gun out. A couple of seconds after that the officer advised that he'd shot the young man," said Capt. Greg Copeland, acting Yakima Police Chief.
Police haven't released how many times the officer shot the man, and they haven't released any names. Officers say the man who was shot was taken to a local hospital and put in the ICU.
